Kicking out the calendar and more: Google is rebuilding reminders

We’ve been talking about reminders from Google services for a few days now. This is because Google is making some changes. There are new details.

As a reminder: In the past few days, it has become known, among other things, that Google is throwing reminders as a feature out of Google Calendar.

This is now even very specific because the associated text modules can be found in the latest app source code. 9to5Google found what they were looking for. A conversion is also quite okay because the Google system of memories is very messed up.

Google removes reminders from the calendar and relies on tasks

Google converts reminders into tasks in the calendar. So far, you can use both in the calendar. Google says tasks give us more flexibility, and tasks conveniently appear as lists in the Tasks app. So far, memories have basically been like slimmed-down appointments. In my opinion, the elimination from the calendar is definitely manageable.

It is also known from the text modules that there will be no tasks with a location in the calendar. If a reminder that’s turned into a task has a saved location, it will appear in the description. But there are no more location-based notifications.

Notes app: Google Keep keeps reminders in an unaltered form

Google keeps the classic reminders in its Notes app. These reminders are not converted into tasks, as the text modules in the source code can already reveal. So you can still be reminded of notes as before, which seems quite logical.

Furthermore, it remains unclear about the large assistant memory for Google Assistant. Recently it became known that Google could even have given up development completely.
