Apple releases new firmware 5A5304a update for AirPods 2/3/Pro/Max

Apple today released a new version of beta firmware for the second-generation AirPods, third-generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. Apple says the beta firmware includes improvements to the automatic switching feature, along with bug fixes and stability improvements. The version number was upgraded from the previous 5A5282d to 5A5304a

The AirPods beta firmware can be downloaded from the Apple developer interface, along with installation instructions. This firmware does not support the original AirPods. To install the test firmware, you need an iPhone upgraded to the iOS 16 beta version, a Mac computer with the Xcode 14 beta version installed, the Mac must be upgraded to the macOS Ventura beta version, and finally AirPods that support the test firmware.

Once the AirPods are paired with the iPhone, connect the iPhone to the Mac via a lightning cable, launch Xcode 14, navigate to Settings-Developer, and select the pre-release beta firmware under the AirPods testing section. Beta firmware can take up to 24 hours to install on AirPods. Once installed, future beta firmware can be automatically upgraded.
