Google: New Chromecast appeared, what does it have to do with pixels

It’s been a while since Google released Chromecast Audio. A new device is now appearing in the app source code, which gives reason to speculate on a successor. Google appears to be working on several new Chromecast devices.

A cheap budget variant of the Chromecast with Google TV could be released this year. Chromecast HD. The original still cost around 70 euros and is therefore very expensive. Amazon undercuts this price with several Fire TV sticks. Google is said to be working on a cheaper option and possibly something more.

New clues were discovered in the source code of a Google app. Hints that allow the conclusion from known information that Google may renew the Chromecast Audio after a good seven years. The earlier Chromecast Audio had the benefit of being able to make a traditional speaker smart with it. Today there are many smart speakers, but not every customer wants to buy new devices.

Maybe not a Chromecast, but the Pixel Tablet docking station?

It is possible that Google is also bringing new hardware because Sonos is still arguing in court about the technologies used. New devices could come with no software/hardware affected. Another speculative approach came up in the 9to5Google team and we find it particularly interesting.

A docking station is planned for the upcoming Pixel Tablet so that the tablet can be used as a smart speaker at home. It makes sense that the docking station can be used as a speaker even when the tablet is not connected. Basically, the technology of the Chromecast Audio would be sufficient for this.

I think the docking station theory is more likely. A new Chromecast Audio would certainly find too few customers. Let’s wait and see for the rest of the year, then Google might reveal a little more about the upcoming Pixel Tablet.
