Tesla will open Supercharger stations to non-Tesla cars in the US this year

Last November, Tesla announced that it will allow other brands of electric vehicles to use its supercharging network in Europe for the first time, and the plan will first be tested at 10 supercharging stations in the Netherlands.

Tesla says the project is part of a broader plan to open up the charging network to other brands of electric vehicles. Tesla has since conducted pilots in several major European cities but has never opened Supercharger stations in the U.S. to non-Tesla vehicles.

Now, a White House memo suggests Tesla will open Supercharger stations in the U.S. to other brands of electric vehicles. “Biden-Harris Administration Catalyzes more than $700 Million in Private Sector Commitments to Make EV Charging More Affordable and Accessible” released by the White House Later this year, Tesla will begin producing new Supercharger equipment that will enable non-Tesla electric vehicle owners in North America to use Tesla Superchargers, the company said. It is worth mentioning that Tesla officials have not had any news on this matter before, and Tesla officials have not responded.

As early as 2015, Musk emphasized that Tesla has no plans to monopolize the supercharging network. Musk said other automakers can use Tesla’s Superchargers as long as they’re willing to launch vehicles that can match the power of the Superchargers.
