Microsoft 365 Office V2206 released

Microsoft has released multiple fixes to address performance issues and random unexpected crashes of Microsoft 365 Office applications. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint may close unexpectedly when opening, closing, saving, uploading, or downloading cloud files in Office version 2205. No error is displayed when the app is closed abruptly.

Status: Fixed

This issue has been fixed in Office version 2206 (Build 16.0.15330.20230). The fix is ​​rolling out to users via an update. You can install updates manually by opening an Office app and selecting File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Microsoft has addressed performance issues with Excel in Office 365, including freezing issues when switching between worksheets that contain filtered pivot tables. Microsoft describes this issue and its accompanying fix in its support document.

A fix for this issue is available in the following Microsoft 365 Apps versions:

  • Current Channel: Version 2204 (Build 15128.20280) or later
  • Monthly Enterprise Channel: Build 2204 (Build 15128.20280)

The fix is ​​expected to be available in the July 2022 Update for Office 365 subscription customers in the following channels:

  • Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel: Version 2202

Microsoft notes that the freeze fix won’t work with Office 2021 or Office 2019. So the company also offers a workaround.

Solution

If there is no fix available for your current version of Excel 365, you can resolve this issue by selecting File > Home > Sort & Filters > Clear to remove the filter from the affected worksheets. “

Microsoft also offers a way to fix the problem using registry tweaks:

  • Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Registry Editor, type regedit, and press Enter.
  • Navigate to the following registry key:
