Overwatch 2 narrative development team adds 25,000 voice lines to the game

Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 recently started a new round of beta testing. The second generation not only added some new heroes but also made some adjustments to the appearance and skills of the original heroes. According to reports, the OW2 narrative development team has added 25,000 new voice lines to the game, some of which require special circumstances to trigger.

Narrative designers Justin Groot and Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie said that these cool exclusive voiceovers are a reward for players to achieve a cool or strange event. It’s like Sigma’s default skin is not wearing shoes, but if Sigma uses the skin with shoes, it will all look weird when Baptiste triggers the voice of “no shoes”. So the production team marked each of Sigma’s skins to wear shoes or not, to deal with all kinds of strange scenarios.

Justin Groot said that when they came up with the idea, the team of development engineers gave a lot of support, and the reactive voice triggers also included characters, actions, scenes, and locations. The voice system involves many things, such as whether it is invisible, 76 kills 76, Reinhardt in Ana’s anesthetic charge, and so on.
