Volvo sold 15,905 plug-in cars in the US in H1 2022, up 58% year-on-year

According to the latest reports, Volvo reported that its car sales in the United States fell sharply again. In June this year, Volvo delivered a total of 8,434 vehicles in the United States, a year-on-year decrease of 31.2%; the cumulative delivery this year was 50,585 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 20.7%.

Demand for our cars remains strong, but inventory challenges remain,” explained Anders Gustafsson, senior vice president, president and CEO of Volvo Cars USA. Data show that in June this year, Volvo sold a total of 2,118 plug-in vehicles in the United States, a decrease of 14% year-on-year. Volvo’s U.S. plug-in vehicle sales in June 2022 are as follows:

  • Pure Electric Vehicles: 553 (down 24% YoY)
  • PHEV: 1,565 (down 10% year over year)
  • Total: 2118 (down 14% year over year)

Volvo has sold 15,905 plug-in vehicles in the U.S. so far this year, up 58 percent from a year earlier. Among them, the sales of pure electric vehicles were 3,811 units, a year-on-year increase of 64%; the sales of PHEV models were 12,094 units, a year-on-year increase of 56%.
