Today, Tencent announced that it has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Daimler Greater China Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
The two parties will carry out strategic cooperation in the field of high-level autonomous driving, using cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence technologies to accelerate the simulation, testing and application of Mercedes-Benz autonomous driving technology.
Tencent said that the cooperation will support Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia to jointly develop autonomous vehicle technology in China. To this end, the partners will establish an autonomous driving joint laboratory to jointly accelerate Mercedes-Benz’s autonomous driving technology research and development in China in the autonomous driving toolchain, verification services and other related fields.
According to reports, Tencent will provide Mercedes-Benz with integrated, high-performance and stable cloud service support through IT architecture, tools and platforms. At the same time, Tencent will provide its accumulation in the field of car networking security to support Mercedes-Benz’s autonomous driving research and development work in China.
So far, Tencent has reached cooperation with more than 40 car companies in the field of smart travel, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, FAW, Changan, Dongfeng, GAC, and Great Wall.
