The new survey data shows that although Google Chrome currently dominates the web browser rankings, Microsoft’s Edge browser is doing well in an important market.
According to a survey of 3,000 corporate employees conducted by TechRadar Pro in partnership with Perimeter 81, Microsoft Edge is the web browser of choice for businesses at 37.77%. Google Chrome is not far behind, with a ratio of 33.01%.
Considering that Edge’s share of the overall browser market is only around 4%, its performance in the enterprise market is really surprising. The latest data shows that while Edge has surpassed Firefox in the rankings, it is still far behind Safari (18%) and Chrome (65%), the default browsers on iOS and Android, respectively.
Despite a steady stream of feature updates, various advertising campaigns, and the integration of Edge into the company’s new Windows 11 operating system, the Edge browser’s market share has not improved much.
However, Edge’s performance in the enterprise market will be a big boost to Microsoft’s morale, showing that the company’s efforts in areas such as security are paying off. For example, over the past year, the company has beefed up its built-in password manager and introduced a “Super Safe Mode” designed to ward off various browser-based attacks.
