Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 release date finalized: November 15-17

It’s been a busy day for Qualcomm today, starting with the announcement a few hours ago of the latest generation of its line of wearables chipsets consisting of the Snapdragon W5 and W5+ SoCs.

Now, the company has also revealed the date of its next Snapdragon Summit. This annual event is always held in Hawaii and will be the same this year. The Snapdragon Summit is usually held in December, but in 2022, it will be a three-day event scheduled for November 15-17.

The following is the official invitation letter from Qualcomm for the Snapdragon Summit:

At Snapdragon Summit, we will see the debut of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Of course, more chips may also be released at the same time. Although Qualcomm did not specifically mention why the Snapdragon Summit in 2022 was moved to November, it may have something to do with the Chinese smartphone market, where mobile phone sales usually surge during the Chinese New Year.

As a result, many Chinese companies hope to be able to launch their new top-of-the-line devices before the Spring Festival — and announcing the chips that power them early helps shorten the lead time.
