PS5 variant of Persona 5R does not support PS4 upgrade, want to play and buy another copy

According to the latest report, Altus today released the FAQ for the remastered version of Persona 5R, which officially confirmed that the PS5 version of Persona 5R does not support upgrading from the PS4 version and wants to experience the PS5 version of Goddess Variation 5R can only be sold one more copy.

The remake of Persona 5R will be released on October 21, landing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, and simultaneously on XGP.

Persona 5 Royal, abbreviated as P5R and titled Persona 5: The Royal in Japan, is an enhanced re-release of Persona 5. The game was initially released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on October 31, 2019, followed by a Western release on March 31, 2020. The game has had backward compatibility support with the PlayStation 5 upon the console’s launch.

In June 2022, as part of the Persona 25th Anniversary, it was announced that Persona 5 Royal would be ported on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, the Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows via Steam and the Microsoft Store on October 21, 2022. Additionally, a standalone port of the game for PlayStation 5 would release alongside these versions.
