TikTok announced today that it will introduce new subtitles and translation tools to reach more users around the world. This update will support English, Portuguese, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Spanish and Turkish.
TikTok provides users with an automatic subtitle generation tool. Both viewers and creators can turn on subtitle options for videos. TikTok also provides translations for subtitles and video descriptions so that users can watch videos in their native language.
Next, the company also introduced a translation feature for text stickers. However, TikTok said these tools are still in the early stages of development and are currently only available in a few videos.
TikTok wrote in a blog post: “These simplified translation solutions can help overcome language barriers and allow users to better integrate into the context of sharing. Through these efforts, no matter what language you speak, no matter where you are, you can more easily access this global content.”
