Galaxy Watch 6 will use BOE’s OLED screen

Samsung Galaxy smartwatch exclusively uses Samsung Display’s OLED screen to provide excellent image quality. But according to a new report, Samsung display suppliers could change next year.

According to Naver, Samsung is in talks with Chinese display maker BOE for the supply of the Galaxy Watch 6 screen. The smartwatch is expected to launch in the second half of 2023. Samsung Electronics has reportedly made a formal request to China’s largest display company, and the two companies are coordinating production plans.

Samsung is also said to be discussing using BOE’s OLED panels in high-end Galaxy smartphones. So far, BOE’s panels have only been used in entry-level and mid-range smartphones such as the Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23.

Samsung is doing this to diversify its supply chain and add more suppliers to its mobile devices. This will make production more cost-effective and reliable. Samsung officials have yet to respond to confirm the information.
