God of War Ragnarok is Microsoft’s Xbox chief’s most anticipated game

Spencer, Microsoft’s president of gaming, said the game he’s most looking forward to this year is Sony’s God of War: Ragnarok. Spencer answered several questions from the Xbox official PO, including the first game I played, the last game I played, my favorite game, which game I want to play next, and more. Spencer chose God of War: Ragnarok as his next favorite game.

In fact, this isn’t the first time Spencer has publicly expressed his desire to play God of War: Ragnarok. Earlier this month, before Santa Monica announced its release date, creative director Cory Barlog took to Twitter to urge fans to respect the developer.

Unexpectedly, Spencer responded at the time, saying: “Cory you are so good. Really can’t wait to play God of War. Thank you and your team for the amazing work you do to create something we love. Thank you.”

Last year, PlayStation studio head Hermen Hulst also chose God of War: Ragnarok as his most anticipated game. While it’s no surprise that Spencer is keen to play the PlayStation’s flagship holiday game, it’s a reminder that Xbox still has no confirmed first-party games for sale this Christmas. Both “Starry Sky” and “Hongxia Island” have been delayed until the first half of 2023.

Microsoft said last month that they still plan to release at least five first-party games in the current fiscal year, which ends in June 2023.
