Edge Canary browser failed to open after the latest update (Follow Repair Method)

Microsoft Windows 11 and Windows 10 Edge Canary Channel Edition browser is usually used to add early new features and experimental changes, but it is also the most unstable version and can encounter annoying bugs Bugs and high risk. After a recent update, Edge Canary users encountered a serious bug that prevented the browser from opening.

Multiple testers reported that the Edge Canary browser would not open after installing the latest update. Microsoft quickly pulled the offending version, but users who have been updated face issues with not launching and using it properly.

The easiest way to start Microsoft Edge Canary is to right-click the icon on the taskbar and select InPrivate mode. Once Microsoft releases a new version with fixes, launching and updating Canary can be done.

If users need a permanent solution, use the following steps to revert to the previous Canary version:

  • Download Microsoft Edge Canary 105.0.1334.0 offline installer
  • Open the downloaded file with 7-Zip or other decompression software.
  • Open the folder inside the executable and copy all the files in it.
  • Go to C:\Users\Your username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\Application\105.0.1336.0 . Note that the user version maybe 105.0.1335.0 instead of 105.0.1336.0.
  • If necessary, paste the copied file and replace the existing file.
  • Microsoft Edge Canary should now start normally.

Microsoft allows running various Edge channel versions in parallel, but users also need to distinguish between stable and risky levels, so the best option is to use the stable official version for daily work, followed by the Beta version, and the Canary or Dev version can be used for pure testing.
