Google August 2022 patch for Pixel devices officially postponed

Recently, we made an article and shared the news that Google released the latest firmware update for the Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a. The update is minor and fixes the GPS issue. However, this update for Pixel 6/Pro is still based on July 2022 patch and the Pixel 6a on June 2022 patch.

Now Pixel Users can’t wait and want Google to release its August 2022 patch quickly. Although the Pixel 6 smartphones are completely out of line, the August update should only be rolled out to all users “over the next few weeks”.  As far as Pixel users are already familiar with this formulation and should know that it will take about ten days.

We had just reported that the Pixel 6 smartphones were over the hill with their update problems, and there are already new delays – this time for all Pixel smartphones. The August update released on Monday has not yet been rolled out to Pixel smartphones without Google’s developers have given a reason. They still owe this, but at least they address the problem and give a rough time frame for starting the rollout:

While this additional update is only for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a, the August 2022 update for all supported Pixel devices will begin rollout in the coming weeks.

The plan is to start rolling out in the coming weeks. That doesn’t mean it’s coming Monday, and such latecomer updates are rare during the week. It will probably not be ready until August 15th and the update will be made up for in the middle of the month. The update for the sixth-pixel generation announced in the same breath should not be related to this and should not increase the patch level.

We can be curious when the time will come and whether Google will comment on the problems that have arisen. It’s quite possible that it’s also related to the Android 13 shift.
