The leaked content shows Diablo 4 will have limited trading, with most rare items not being traded, while low-level items can be traded on a limited basis. Diablo 4 will also feature a similar smart drop mechanic to Diablo 3: the game will generate your drops and stats based on the character the player is playing, rather than from all drop pools.

This leaked content sparked heated discussions among players. Players who support smart loot find this drop method convenient and ensure that most gear will work. Some players feel that it doesn’t matter, and the smart drop mechanism does not affect their normal play (85% chance of triggering a smart drop in Diablo 3). Players who disagreed said that spawning powerful items from other classes would encourage players to try new characters, and Smart Drop reduced that chance.
