The Face Unlock feature of Pixel 6 Pro, needs a bright environment because this Camera is oriented and no need for additional hardware. This feature is different from the Pixel 4’s combination of IR cameras, dot projector, and flood illuminator, as well as Soli Motion Sense, to speed up the entire process.
If you notice in Pixel 6 Pro the front-facing camera supports dual-pixel autofocus (DPAF) to generate depth maps of your face and the Google Tensor allows faster, more accurate, and power-efficient face detection in photography contexts. On the other hand, the DPAF feature supports the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro but the smaller Pixel 6 with the front-facer does not support it.
