For tablets, Google wishes to modify the first-party Android widgets, but while trying to make this enhancement Google modify the existing Gmail widgets smaller. Version 2022.08.21 is now available publicly, the UI appearances changed more than before now the padding within each card of mail removes. This happened because of minimizing the font size of the text.
After modification of this, some elements also shrank together like the archive button at the right. If there’s one upside, you now get to see more emails per screen. On the other hand, on tablets, the bottom bar with shortcuts to open Chat, Spaces, and Meets have disappeared if the widget isn’t tall enough.
This is just like the bug which decreases the readability, some people think that Material You brought too much padding maybe they like this new modified look
This new look of the Gmail widget smaller started released last week, but now it is also available on the Play Store. Maybe this bug will remove in the next update of Gmail.
