Google Japan came back with a new physical form factor – Gboard Bar

Last year, Google Japan releases the working keyboard called the teacup version, in which keys are arranged all the way around. The empty center allows for a beverage to be poured in while only a USB-C cable sticks out. Now they release a new physical form with the Android default keyboard app form of the Gboard bar. In this Gboard bar organize keys in a single line then you need to search around. It appears “extremely simple” and comes in at 1,650 mm long or just under 65-inches. On the upside design of this takes up very little vertical desk space, thus making it convenient even on desks where documents are packed up.

The Google Japanese input team unveiled a way to swipe on physical keyboards. This Gboard physical keyboard allows users to draw out the shape of the character they want by clicking down on physical keys with a connected device and then translating your input into the desired letter. The design of the specs sheet is very spacious and its height has a comfortable thickness.

As per the terms of functionality, there’s joint typing and the ability to use it as a bug net with the bug removing module:

  • If two people share the device and use it, they can enter characters at high speed at the same time. It is also recommended for pair programming where two people face one problem.
  • If you attach a bug-removing module, you can quickly turn it into a bug-removing stick. By taking advantage of its elongated device shape, it can be used in a variety of situations.

This announcement is how you can actually build one with instructions on Github. Google Japan has a penchant for Gboard and keyboard-related April Fools’ jokes, even if the broader company no longer celebrates.

In 2018, there was a device that enable you to swipe on a physical keyboard as if you were interacting with a touchscreen, while in 2019 was character input based on how far back you bend a spoon. The latter appears in today’s video as a cameo.

So, you see different types of designs of Gboard through that you can easily type your document and work effectively.
