Material You Design is now available in the Google TV app

In the last few days, Google has released Material You Design for many apps, including Google, Samsung, and some other third-party applications.

What is the Material You Design

Material You is Google’s new unified design language it was first introduced with Android 12. In contrast to rigid design paradigms of the past, it’s a design that extracts its colors from the part of your phone that you have the most control over and that is likely very individual to you: the wallpaper.

Material You For Google TV

After so many apps, now the Google Material You design is now available for the Google TV app. Back in March, when the company announced reorganized navigation in the Google TV app, we could see the new Material You-style bottom navigation bar design in images and videos. At that time, Google didn’t explicitly announce the design update.

Digging through Google Play services, I found, the flag “MaterialFeature_enabled”, which enables the new design of the Google TV app. Among the updated components are a new navigation bar, a new search bar and new button shapes.

At the same time, the app does not use Dynamic colors but slightly changed the shade of gray. It is worth noting that in landscape mode, the app now uses the navigation rail, as on tablets. This is either an oversight or a new Google solution.
