For Pixel 7 Snapchat and TikTok will offer 10-bit HDR video support

Recently, Google launched its latest phone version Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The most attractive feature of this phone is its camera bar. This phone has a long strip of glass for camera cutouts hidden behind a metal panel. For those users who like to create videos on mobile Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro brought support for 10-bit HDR video.

This new feature of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro Snapchat and TikTok will support the 10-bit HDR video feature. Both are the first apps that support this feature on the Android operating system. The support of 10-bit HDR video within the Android system and more devices/apps may support enhanced high-quality video.

The Android 13 mobile OS brought SDR dimming, and the Camera2 API supports HDR shooting. Both TikTok and Snapchat use the Camera2 API. It means that the related app directly opens the camera viewfinder to shoot video, instead of recording normally and then importing it into the app.

TikTok and Snapchat users not only record HDR videos but also watch HDR videos on the new Pixel 7 series. As for the importance of SDR dimming, other UI elements don’t display jarring color or contrast.

Lastly, now, this feature is only available for those companies who are working with Google. In the coming days there more updates and enhancements comes.
