Emergency SOS via satellite for iPhone 14 coming soon [$450 million investment]

On 7 September 2022, Apple launched its latest iPhone 14 series with the Emergency SOS via satellite, car crash detection, and more. Now, with the press release, Apple will bring a new satellite feature for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro soon in November. The users of the US and Canada will receive this first. With this feature users of the iPhone 14 when their phone not working then will be able to connect to the satellite and short messages to the family.

To bring this new feature to the iPhone 14 the company needs to invest $450 million. After launching this feature, starting a two-year service will be free of cost. The cost of using this feature further is not revealed yet. Next year it will available to the other market also.

This feature uses spectrum bands L and S to contact satellites overhead. For using this user ensures the sky is then only this emergency SOS satellite feature works. On-screen UI will help the user point their phone in the right direction. The Apple-Globalstar partnership means iPhone 14 will contact one of 24 Globalstar satellites that are orbiting the planet.

The satellite then relays the message to ground stations. If the message is sent in an area where local emergency services support SMS communication, the message will be sent directly to them. If not, Apple contractors working at relay centers will call them on your behalf. Moreover, for using this feature users use the Find My apps like SOS text messages, satellite connectivity, and more.

Lastly, the new feature of the Emergency SOS via satellite will come to the user in the coming weeks.
