OnePlus will follow Samsung, to offer 4 OS updates and 5 years of patch from 2023

Just like Samsung, OnePlus has also confirmed that “selected devices launched in 2023” will get 4 major OS updates and five years of “regular” security patches. The decisions were made on the basis of users’ opinions as several OnePlus users faced issues in terms of software updates.

The Head of software products at OnePlus, Gary Chen, confirmed that OxygenOS 13.1 will launch in the first half of 2023. With the OnePlus 11 series expected to come in the early portion of 2023, it’s highly likely that the firm’s next flagship will come with this expanded Android 13 build.

OnePlus Official Statement:

As a user-oriented company, we do everything we can to enhance user experience. With more users keeping their devices for longer, we want to make sure we can offer that possibility. This new update policy will give users access to the latest security and functional features required to power OnePlus’ signature fast-and-smooth experience throughout the lifetime of the phone.
