Google has been steadily increasing the number of widgets that are available in its various apps ever since the release of Android 12 and Material You. An ever-expanding ecosystem of widgets, ranging from purely aesthetic to useful and informative.

The Arts & Culture app’s most recent Android widget falls squarely into the latter category. The new widget ought to be available for use right away once you update to Google Arts and Culture version 9.4, which is currently available via the Play Store.

The layout is fairly straightforward and resembles a framed painting. Below the artist’s name and the museum where the artwork is kept are displayed.

The Google Arts & Culture widget will feature a new artist every day, chosen based on their birthday. For instance, Diego Rivera, today’s featured artist, was born on December 8, 1886. The Arts & Culture app displays additional information about a featured work of art and its creator when you tap on it.

The widget cleverly displays multiple works from the day’s artist rather than just one. A new piece will appear to better fit the current shape as you resize the widget on your homescreen. The Arts & Culture widget, like every other recent Google widget, changes its background color in the Material You style to stand out against your current wallpaper.

Lastly, the Google Arts & Culture widget should be a pretty fun way to keep your Android homescreen looking new every day with new surprises.
