Google improving key results and more suggestions to search boxes

Google will start displaying more suggestions and ways to refine your query as you type in the Search box, and some results will look very different from the current approach of 10 blue links. In September, Google announced that the Knowledge Panel redesign would begin to roll out and that Search would make it easier to explore a subject by highlighting the most relevant and helpful information.

These highlights are presented in the form of grid-style cards. Depending on the subject matter, a carousel of images is typically the first thing shown. The Weather averages (as high as low for the month), the time it takes to “Get there” from your current location, a map, and a description are provided for cities.

The description comes first when looking up dishes or recipes, followed by videos and articles, including a “Things to know” carousel.

On mobile, these cards frequently have a theme that corresponds to the content (for instance, pesto green, ragù red, etc.). However, numerous cards are merely blue. The usual web results appear as you scroll. This Knowledge Panel redesign is only available on mobile for those two aforementioned categories.

There is now a large Knowledge Panel grid that highlights things like age and other details after starting with images.

Athletes may also receive cards based on their height, wealth, and most recent recap video. The about description and other information are still displayed in the right sidebar. Because it appears first after the Search bar, this grid is quite prominent and draws your attention.

For topics like cities, you may see visual stories and short videos from people who have visited, tips on how to explore the city, things to do, how to get there and other important aspects you might want to know about as you plan your travels.

Lastly, Google for all Knowledge Panel categories applied a new card redesign that has not yet been widely rolled out. Google will also highlight “content from creators on the open web,” in addition to information.
