Google launched a new landing page and recapped program updates from this year

Google launched the App Defense Alliance in 2019 in collaboration with some security firms to beef up threat protection in the Android ecosystem (eg. Play Protect, Play Store scanning). Today, Google launched a new landing page and recapped program updates from this year.

The new landing page details the program’s core principles, members, the Malware Mitigation initiative, and the Cloud Application Security Assessment (CASA) and Mobile Application Security Assessment (MASA).

You can also see the list of apps that have completed a MASA in the Directory tab on the landing page. Apps that have completed a MASA can opt to showcase this in their Play Store’s Data Safety section, as shown in the attached screenshot.

A few months back, we spoke with Brian Reed, Chief Mobility Officer from Now Secure, one of the newest members of the App Defense Alliance, about the program, Play Protect, MASA, and a lot more. Give this podcast a listen if you’re interested!
