As a result of Google Home’s rebuilding, Google is bringing live video feeds to Home Camera clients over the web, with simple admittance to your cameras over the web and without the Google Home application. The Google Home app is a good choice if you need to check your cameras. As long as you are not using Google Home Preview, it can be done quickly and easily.

Know how it works

While using the mobile option is convenient, there is another method for simultaneously checking all of your cameras. The Google Home Preview for the web, a very basic website that lets you see all of your cameras in one place, is the new method.

There is no access to any of your smart home devices, in contrast to the Google Home mobile app. In addition, unlike on a mobile device, you are unable to access settings and scenes. The web rendition is rigorously for use with your cameras. To begin, follow these steps:

  1. In the internet browser of your choice, visit home.google.com.
  2. Utilize the Google Account associated with your Nest Cameras to log in.
  3. In the Public Preview warning, click OK.

Google Home web

You can now use the list view to access all of your cameras in the left tab of that page. You can also preview each camera on a single page by switching to a grid view. If you want, you can also turn each one on or off, but we suggest leaving them idle so they can still record events if needed. The camera will automatically turn on if it detects movement, and you will be able to view the feed.

By tapping the sound icon, you can run on sound and enable fullscreen mode when viewing any of your Google Nest Cameras. This button won’t allow you to talk through your camera, similar to what you might on the versatile Google at any point Home application. Instead, this web-based Public Preview is only for viewing your Nest Cameras.

What regarding the previous Nest website?

There was a separate website for viewing Nest Home cameras designed specifically for older generations of Nest cameras and other devices before the Public Preview began to be made available to users. All Nest products released before 2021 are included in this.

What distinguishes the two websites?

In addition to the compatible cameras, the older website had significantly more features than the more recent Google Home web app. The site allowed users to change settings, view history, download clips, and view cameras in real-time. In addition, the website provided access to controls for a variety of additional Nest products, including your locks, sensors, and security.

At the moment, only live view over cameras is available on the new Google Home website.

Naturally, the current Public Preview is meant to be a mobile version of the Google Home app, where all of the most important options are available. The mobile version of the Google Home app now has most of the options that were on the old Nest website.

You can use which cameras with the Google Home web app.

The Google Home web app can currently only be used on Google Nest Cameras at this time. This applies to the mobile version as well; third-party cameras won’t likely be able to display in the app. The cameras listed below are known to function with the web app.

  • Nest Cam (indoor, wired)
  • Nest Cam (indoor or outdoor, battery)
  • Nest Cam with Floodlight
  • Nest Doorbell (battery)
  • Nest Doorbell (wired)
  • Nest Hello Doorbell
  • Nest Cam Indoor
  • Nest Cam IQ Indoor
  • Nest Cam IQ Outdoor
  • Nest Cam Outdoor

Lastly, even though the web-based Public Preview is incredibly straightforward, it can be useful if you prefer to always be able to see your camera feeds, especially if you have multiple Nest Cameras set up and recording.
