The 4680 battery is a brand-new battery that Tesla will introduce in 2020. It is also the company’s first completely new battery. Tesla also contributed to the creation of batteries, primarily modifying the chemical structures of 18650 and 2170 batteries. Tesla intends to independently develop a larger capacity battery in the future.

Additionally, Tesla intends to collaborate with existing battery manufacturers to produce its batteries. As to assembling information of the 4680 battery, Tesla has been hush.

Tesla announced in February 2022 that its pilot plant in Fremont, California, had completed the first batch of one million 4680 batteries, providing the most recent accurate data.

Tesla has only made a few statements about the percentage increase in production since then without actually confirming production. The company stated that the factory team produced 868,000 4680 batteries last week, sufficient to produce more than 1,000 Model Ys, confirming the actual rate of production for the first time.

Tesla will construct a battery production line at its Gigafactory in Texas. In addition to producing 4680 batteries at the pilot plant in Fremont, California, to shorten supply chain transportation times. As battery suppliers have increased production, Tesla’s battery supply issues have decreased over the past year.

However, the majority of Tesla’s business growth in the coming year is expected to be related to the company’s capacity to increase the production of its 4680 cells.

Lastly, the most recent figures may indicate that Tesla has overcome many production bottlenecks, and the production of 4680 batteries may continue to rise steadily. Even though the mass production of 4680 batteries appears to have encountered numerous issues.
