Although Samsung Electronics’ 5G-enabled and foldable smartphones saw an increase in shipments this year, the average selling price (ASP) only slightly increased.
The reason is that sales of Galaxy A, increased rapidly while sales of the flagship (top-end model) series. The highest price among Samsung Electronics’ smartphone lineup, were sluggish due to software controversy.

On the 26th, global market research, the average selling price of Samsung smartphones only increased by 2% year-over-year. When compared to the same time last year, sales of the Galaxy Z Flip and 5G smartphones increased by 2 times and 27%, respectively.

By region, Korea and Europe maintain 30-40% of Samsung Electronics’ smartphone supply even after the initial release of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, it is rapidly losing ground in the US market. The supply of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is anticipated to decrease in the United States. The sales pace of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the US is rather lagging behind the Galaxy Z Flip 3. There was a maximum of 10% supply from Japan, China, and Canada.
“Galaxy has a strong flagship image in Korea, but the perception is different in overseas markets,” said an industry insider. Samsung must therefore increase its efforts in overseas markets.
