[U: Widely Rollout] Google’s Find My Device has gotten it’s Material You update

Feb 09/2023: The Material You design for the Find My Device is now rollout widely with the help of the new version (2.5.011) of the App.

The changelog notes:

  • Refreshed app design
  • Find My Device can now help you locate devices, even if they’re offline by encrypting and storing your device’s most recent location with Google

Jan 19/2023: Likely in preparation for Google’s upcoming AirTag competitor “grogu”, they have updated the Find My Device app with a Themed Icon (and other Material Design 3 elements), dark mode support and a new main menu. When you open the app, you’re given the option to choose which device to locate before seeing the map.

Find my Device’s main menu showcases all of your devices that you can select to track, instead of them being on the bottom bar like before. The setup screen also mentions an encrypted last known location feature which is not yet available. Attached is the setup page for the new encrypted last known location feature of Find My Device. (This is part of the Play Services app but is not yet available.)

You can download the 2.5.001 update on the Play Store or APKMirror.
