Snapchat launched AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT

Snapchat has launched a new chatbot called “My AI,” powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It’s currently available only to Snapchat Plus subscribers for $3.99/month, but will eventually come to all monthly users. Snapchat users can also rename My AI and add a custom wallpaper to their chats with it.

My AI is just a fast mobile-friendly version of ChatGPT inside Snapchat with the difference that it is more restricted than ChatGPT in answering. It won’t give responses that include swearing, violence, sexually explicit content, or opinions about sensitive topics like politics.

It has also been stripped of functionality that got ChatGPT banned in some schools, such as the ability to write academic essays. Snapchat is one of the first clients of OpenAI’s new enterprise tier called Foundry. This tier enables companies to run the latest GPT-3.5 model with dedicated computing designed for large workloads.
