Due to security concerns, Nintendo temporarily shut down multiplayer servers for Mario Kart 8 and Splashdown

The multiplayer servers of the two games “Mario Kart 8” and “Splashdown” were temporarily halted earlier today owing to the discovery of security vulnerabilities, according to Nintendo of America’s official website.

This means that users of the Nintendo Wii U gaming console will be unable to play these two titles online. The official Nintendo support said:

This web service is currently unavailable due to urgent maintenance due to an online game-related vulnerability. It is not yet confirmed when this web service will be restored, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
