Pixel 7/Pro: A glitch prevents images shot with zoom from being saved

The Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro appear to be plagued by a particularly troubling flaw, as evidenced by the numerous reports that have surfaced on the internet.

This is the inability to save images taken with zoom, which occurs at random and does not appear to be related to a specific version of the operating system. The problem in question is really clever, as the camera UI leads us to assume that the shoot was successful – with the proper waiting times -, but when you go to check for the image in the gallery, it is not found, as it was never stored.

While this is not an issue with a specific Android version, as there have been complaints of the same fault on the latest Android 13 QPR2 and even the Android 14 Development Preview, it appears that the problem is more prevalent with the Google Camera’s 8.7.250.494820638.44. According to preliminary research, the failure to save may be due to an issue relating to HDR options, although no official information is available.

Let’s hope Google takes action on this issue quickly, as it’s a really frustrating flaw that could cause multiple users to miss shots, possibly even vital ones, without realizing it.
