Pixel Buds Pro is finally getting an update with spatial audio support and “Head Tracking

The new Google Pixel Buds Pro firmware update version 4.30 adds support for spatial audio with Head Tracking, in which sounds move along with you and repositions with the orientation of your head.

Spatial audio is not supported on Pixel Buds A-Series and Pixel A-Series phones. This feature will work on the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro. It supports content from YouTube, Google TV, Netflix, HBO Max and Disney Plus apps with 5.1 audio tracks or higher.

What is spatial audio?
Spatial audio allows you to hear audio that sounds wide and open as if you’re being immersed in sound. Spatial audio will sound richer and have added depth when compared to a standard stereo-wired headset. With spatial audio with head tracking, sounds move along with you and reposition with the orientation of your head. With your Pixel Buds Pro, spatial audio will provide theater-like sound for movies and TV shows.
For the best experience, you will need supporting apps, with content at 5.1 surround sound. Try it out with action or nature movies on Netflix, YouTube, HBO Max* and more, to enhance your listening and media consumption experiences. This feature will work on Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, or Pixel 7 Pro. Visit our help center article for a list of supported applications.
Note: Spatial audio is not supported on Pixel Buds A-Series or Pixel A-Series phones.
