YouTube TV begins experimenting with multi-view screen format

The long-awaited features of the Internet-based TV service will finally be tested by some Google YouTube TV users. The multi-view function, which will let certain users simultaneously monitor up to four TV stations on the screen, will be made available with restricted early access, according to the official YouTube site.

A few pre-selected channels that support the multi-view feature will be used for testing. The four channels that will all show NCAA basketball games are CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV, according to screenshots that have been made public. A perfect time to test the multi-view features is during the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

The YouTube TV team has improved on a feature that lets content producers use a split-screen, where two views can be opened at once, in the ordinary YouTube service. More YouTube TV users will eventually have access to the multi-view function, which will allow them to choose the channels they want to watch in the future.

Before launching NFL Sunday Ticket in the autumn of 2023, which will enable users to watch more NFL games, YouTube TV will have plenty of time to test the service. The multi-view function will eventually be added to the regular YouTube service as well.
