Google removes stolen Pixel prototypes but available publicly

Google has struggled for several years with the fact that prototypes of new Pixel smartphones are released far too early. In most cases, these devices can then be turned off quickly. An update can render these devices inoperable once they are online.

Google has made the method’s source code available to the public.

The devices receive a “brick OTA.” Therefore, a Google OTA update transforms the devices into his stone and leaves the owner with no options. Nonetheless, Google must at least be aware of the device’s serial number.

Devices are rendered useless by OTA updates

For devices, there is even a generator for such updates. If other manufacturers are having similar difficulties, they might try this.

A Pixel 7a has as of late shown up in photographs. Naturally, it was once more a device that should not be shown to the public as a prototype.
