Google Camera 8.8 launching with faster Night Sight on Pixel 6/Pro

With Google Camera version 8.8, Faster Night Sight for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro is now available. Version 8.8.224.520435764.11 of Google Camera, which replaces version 8.8.224.514217832.10, is now widely available for all smartphones, including the Pixel 6 series. The Pixel 7/Pro is still the only device to feature the new zoom bar in the final build.

“And Night Sight now only needs half of the normal exposure time to produce beautiful low-light images that are sharper than before.”

After updating to Camera 8.8, Pixel 6/Pro owners will notice a circle in the bottom-right corner when switching to the Night Sight tab. By tapping, you can choose between two seconds and Max, which can last up to six seconds. Depending on the shooting conditions, the time increment may range from two to six seconds.

Google lets you choose between using Night Sight faster or using Night Sight with a longer exposure time for better image quality.

This feature was announced as part of the Feature Drop this month. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, as well as the 6a, do not yet support Android 13 QPR2. Additionally, “general improvements for camera stability and performance in certain conditions” are included in the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 7, and 7 Pro patches released in March. “Improvements for color accuracy or exposure level while using the front camera in certain conditions” are another benefit of the 7 series.
