India is on its way to becoming the world’s most populous nation, overtaking China with almost 3 million more people by Mid-2023. India’s population is estimated at 1.4286 billion, against 1.4257 billion for China in the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) “State of World Population Report” this year.
3rd position in the race is occupied by the USA with 340 million people reported till February, 23. India’s population data is just an estimation because the last Population Census in India was conducted in 2011 and the next which was to be conducted in 2021 was delayed because of Covid Pandemic
India and China account for 1/3rd of the World Population (~8 Billion People).
