Samsung rolled out June 2023 patch update for the Galaxy Note 20/Ultra

Samsung is demonstrating its commitment to maintaining the security of its devices by rolling out the June 2023 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. This update follows the release of the same security patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Initially, the June update is being made available to unlocked units of the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra in the United States. It is expected that carrier-locked variants will receive the update shortly. The firmware version associated with this update is N98xU1UES4HWE1, and as anticipated, it primarily focuses on addressing security vulnerabilities without introducing any new features.

Moving forward, it is likely that all future updates for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will follow a similar pattern. These devices have already received their last major Android and One UI upgrade with Android 13 and One UI 5.1 respectively. Consequently, they will only be eligible for security updates in the future.

Samsung has not yet provided specific details about the vulnerabilities addressed in the June security update. However, it is expected that the company will release a comprehensive list of the fixes later this week. In the meantime, users in the United States who own unlocked Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra devices can access the update over the air by navigating to the phone’s Settings menu and selecting Software Update. Alternatively, users can manually install the new software using firmware available for download from Samsung’s archive. It is important to note that a Windows PC is required for this installation method.
