Google has announced the release of its June 2023 feature drop for all supported Pixel phones with Android 13. This update introduces several noteworthy enhancements, with a particular focus on wallpaper innovations. Users can now enjoy emoji wallpaper support, allowing them to create unique animated wallpapers by combining their favorite emojis in various patterns and colors.

Additionally, Google has introduced cinematic wallpapers that transform 2D images from Google Photos into animated backgrounds with a stunning 3D depth effect. These visual enhancements provide a more immersive and dynamic user experience.

In terms of camera features, certain Pixel models receive notable updates. The Pixel 6 and newer models now include a palm timer, enabling users to activate a self-timer for selfies by raising and holding their palms. However, users need to manually set the timer for either 3 or 10 seconds. Furthermore, the Pixel 7 Pro exclusively receives a macro focus video mode, enabling users to capture videos with the ultra-wide angle’s macro focus capabilities, expanding creative possibilities.

The Pixel-exclusive Google Recorder app has also undergone improvements. The update enables users to export transcripts to Google Docs, create videos with automatic transcriptions and visible speaker labels, and search for specific speakers within the app. These enhancements aim to enhance productivity and accessibility for users.

In terms of security, Google Assistant now offers voice commands for initiating emergency releases or scheduling security checks. Users can simply say, “Hey Google, start a security check for x minutes” to begin the process. Moreover, the Accident Detection feature now includes the ability to share location and call status with emergency contacts, ensuring swift assistance in critical situations.

Google has also introduced the new Home panel, providing convenient access to smart home controls directly from the lock screen or quick settings widget. The redesigned interface aligns with the Google Home app, offering a more cohesive user experience.

Other notable updates include the automatic reduction of vibration when placing the Pixel 7a or Pixel 6a on a table, two new Google Assistant voices, and improvements to adaptive charging. The latter leverages AI technology to predict charging completion and optimize charging to 100% based on users’ charging habits.

Furthermore, Google has introduced enhanced privacy for PIN entry screens, offering a new option called “Enhanced PIN privacy.” This feature disables button animation on the PIN entry screen and ensures that entered numbers are not displayed, providing an additional layer of security.

Lastly, Google has made minor design changes to the Pixel launcher. This June 2023 feature drop represents the final major update for Android 13 before the anticipated release of Android 14 later this year.
