A new option will be added to the power menu under the Windows 10 start menu

Microsoft is testing multiple new features for Windows 10. The previous preview build introduced some major changes, including the ability to update the drawing application through the Microsoft Store. In the preview build, another obvious change is a new option under the power menu that allows the application to restart when the user logs on to the computer again.

Some applications (mainly UWP) have the ability to restart, which is useful when the user wants to return to what the user is doing after restarting the system. In Windows 10 version 21H1 or earlier, this option is bound to the Windows Settings app.

With the Sun Valley update of Windows 10, Microsoft added this option to the power menu, which can be accessed through the start menu. As shown in the screenshot below, the new option “Restart application” will appear under Sleep, Shutdown and Restart. When enabled, Windows will save the user’s restartable applications and restore them the next time the user logs in.

Windows 10 will automatically restart any restartable application when the system is restarted, without having to close any application, and without restarting and logging in. As mentioned earlier, in Windows 10 version 20H1, users can already enable this feature through Settings> Account> Login Options> Restart Application.
