Apple’s high-end Silicon iMac will use a larger 27-inches display

The news source l0vetodream recently stated that the upcoming redesign of Apple’s Silicon iMac will use a larger display. Apple currently sells iMacs in two sizes, one is a 21.5-inch model and the other is a 27-inch model. The leaker said that the new iMac will use Apple’s largest display to date. Perhaps Apple wants to cooperate with Apple Pro Display XDR to create a 32-inch all-in-one device.

The new iMac is expected to undergo a complete redesign, because the current industrial design of the iMac can be traced back to nearly 8 years ago, with a very large screen frame and a beveled chassis.

The new iMac is expected to draw design inspiration from the 2018 iPad Pro aesthetics, reduce the bezel width, and adopt a flatter side. In January of this year, Bloomberg said that the appearance of the iMac will be similar to Pro Display XDR.

It is rumored that the small 21.5-inch iMac screen will be upgraded to 24 inches as part of the redesign. Due to the hypothetical reduction of the display frame, the physical size of the machine is almost the same as the current iMac (in fact, Apple was more than ten years ago A 24-inch iMac was produced, before the iMac switched to an aluminum case).

New revelations claim that the screen size of the high-end iMac will also be improved. Historically, 27 inches is the largest size ever for an iMac. However, the Apple Cinema Display is sold in a 30-inch size, so this is also a potential route to match the 32-inch screen found in Pro Display XDR.

A few days ago, two new iMac models appeared in macOS Big Sur 11.3 beta 5, namely “iMac21,1” and “iMac21,2”. The codenames used by the new Mac are J456 and J457. According to LeaksApplePro, the redesigned iMac will be equipped with a 12-core processor based on M1, and the size will reach 31.5 inches.

The new iMac series is expected to be unveiled sometime in the next few months, using next-generation Apple Silicon chips. We have seen that Apple discontinued the high-end iMac Pro and stopped selling many 21.5-inch iMacs with BTO configuration because it is preparing for a major product revision.
