Samsung releases Odyssey G9 2021 gaming monitor with microLED backlight upgrade

The Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor was a great success after its release last year, thanks in part to the 1000R curvature and high refresh rate. Now, Samsung has announced the latest variant of the Odyssey G9 gaming monitor, called Odyssey G9 2021.

This new version uses Samsung Quantum MiniLED technology, which not only improves the brightness but also improves the contrast. This monitor provides a peak brightness of 2000 nits while displaying HDR content. But in terms of appearance, the G9 2021 gaming monitor uses the same design as the original G9 monitor.

This monitor provides some fantastic technical specifications, including native 2K resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and 49-inch screen size. This very wide screen curve reaches 1000R, which means that if you extend it, the screen will form a perfect circle of 1m with a radius of 1000mm. The visualization circle is a good way to imagine the expected curvature of the display. The larger the R number, the less obvious the curvature.

This monitor provides a high refresh rate of up to 240Hz and a maximum response time of 1 millisecond, which is very suitable for high-action games. These games include game types such as FPS shooting games and racing simulators.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor is expected to retain both AMD FreeSync Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC support technology, designed to eliminate any screen stalls or screen tearing.

Although Samsung has not released any information on the price of the Samsung Odyssey G9 2021 gaming monitor, the price of the previously launched model is US$1699.00. This means that this upcoming display is likely to cost at least $1,699, but due to the Quantum MiniLED technology, it is likely to be even higher.
