Breaking Report: Vivo and Apple tied for No. 1 in the Asian smartphone market in Q4

Market research company Counterpoint Research today released the fourth quarter global mobile phone market statistics report. According to the report, in the Asian smartphone market in the fourth quarter, Vivo and Apple ranked first in market share.

The report shows that in the Asian market, vivo has a market share of 15%, ranking first with Apple. Xiaomi, OPPO, and Huawei ranked third to fifth, with market share of 14%, 13%, and 12%, respectively. Huawei’s data includes shipments of Honor smartphones.

From a global perspective, global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter were 394.6 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6% and a month-on-month increase of 8%.

Apple replaced Samsung as the world’s largest smartphone brand, with a market share of 21%, higher than Samsung’s 16%, thanks to the excellent performance of the iPhone 12 series mobile phones that support 5G.

Xiaomi and OPPO ranked third and fourth, with 11% and 9% market share respectively. Vivo and Huawei are tied for fifth place, with a market share of 8%.

In addition, global feature machine shipments in the fourth quarter increased 9% month-on-month, but fell 24% year-on-year. India replaced the Middle East and Africa (MEA) as the world’s largest functional machine market, with a market share of 37%, higher than MEA’s 32%.

Feature machine shipments in the Chinese market in the fourth quarter were 1.9 million units, more than double the number in the third quarter.
