Win10 March update blue screen rollover

Microsoft previously pushed the cumulative update for March to Windows 10 users. However, although the March cumulative update of Win10 was used to fix several bugs, it seems to have brought more serious problems.

According to Microsoft, they interrupted the push of these patches for up to 8 hours, but then began to push update patches again, and these patches have not been modified in any way. So if you install these patches, how can you avoid this problem?

Microsoft is currently responding to this bug. Microsoft pointed out that this bug will affect “type 3” printer drivers, but not type 4 printers. Microsoft shared a method to verify the printer driver type.

  • Open Windows Search
  • Enter “printmanagement.msc”
  • In the print management window, expand “Print Server”
  • Click “Computer Name” and find “Driver”
  • Select the printer and check the driver type

Before that, you also need to open the “Print Management Console” in Win10. This is very simple. Search for “Manage Optional Features” in Win10, and then add features to enable it. If you find that you are using a type 3 printer driver, you can skip the update or roll back the update, or you can use the “direct printing” method to avoid the blue screen.

Rollback update

Let me talk about how to roll back the update. In the control panel, find “Programs and Features”, you can see “View installed updates”, and finally find the relevant updates to uninstall. However, there is user feedback that the uninstallation will fail, so you can use the command line to execute the following commands.

Win10 2004 or Win10 20H2 input:

  • wusa /uninstall /kb:5000802
  • Win10 1903 or 1909 input:
  • wusa /uninstall /kb:5000809
  • Just run it.

Avoid “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH” stop bug through “Direct Print”

  • Open the command line (administrator mode)
  • Run the following command, you need to replace “KX driver for Universal printing” with the name of the printer

rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry /Xg /n “KX driver for Universal printing”

  • The above command will open the printer dialog box. In the “Properties” column, if there is no “Direct”, then run the following command to manually enable the direct printing feature:

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /Xs /n “KX driver for Universal printing” attributes +direct

Also, note that you need to replace “KX driver for Universal printing” with the name of the printer

  • Close the print interface and command-line window.

Then, use the “Direct Print” function, there will be no blue screen problem.

In addition, Microsoft has confirmed that it is preparing another update to fix the problem, and this update is expected to be brought next week.
