Here are the changes to the new iPad Pro:
- 11-inch iPad Pro: 13 holes per speaker → 8-9 holes per speaker.
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro: 17 holes per speaker → 11-12 holes per speaker.
The new iPad Pro models are still expected to be equipped with 4 speakers to achieve stereo effects, with two on the top edge and two on the bottom edge.
The new iPad Pro model is expected to be equipped with a faster A14X chip, which is almost the same as the M1 chip in the latest Mac. Last week, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the new model may also support the Thunderbolt interface, which is undoubtedly credible given that Thunderbolt is supported on the M1 Mac. Gurman also expects improved cameras and Mini-LED displays on at least 12.9-inch models.
Japanese Mac Otakara reported that the thickness of the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro will increase by about 0.5 mm, while the 11-inch model will retain the previous thickness, which further indicates that the Mini-LED display may be exclusive to large-size models. In addition, the new iPad Pro is also expected to support 5G, and the cellular models will use Qualcomm modems.
The accessory vendor ESR also listed a new charging case shell for AirPods 3, which indicates that Apple’s wireless charging shell will be slightly longer as previously rumored. It is expected that the new AirPods 3 will adopt a similar design to AirPods Pro, but without active noise reduction or silicone, earplugs to maintain differentiation.
