Apple is developing a new Apple TV remote codenamed B519

The rumors about the next-generation Apple TV set-top box have been going on for a long time, but we still don’t know when Apple plans to officially release it. But before that, 9to5Mac had heard the rumors about the new Siri Remote smart remote.

According to sources, Apple is developing a new Apple TV remote code-named B519. For reference, the internal code of the current version of the remote control is B439. When Apple launched the Apple TV 4K set-top-box in 2017, only minor changes were made to the Siri Remote. As shown in the picture above, there is a striking white circle beside the Menu button.

Although many users like this design, not all Apple TV users like Siri Remote, especially the lack of physical navigation buttons or the glass-like surface material. If the new Apple TV remote has major changes in design, Apple is likely to replace the fragile shell material on the Siri Remote.

In addition, last week, MacRumors discovered that Apple has renamed the remote control to Apple TV Remote in the tvOS 14.5 beta version in some markets. As early as August 2020, Bloomberg reported that Apple is developing a new Apple TV.

It is known that it has a faster chip (arm64e architecture) and new remote control, and it can find lost items through the Find My app. In December last year, Bloomberg once again mentioned this rumor and predicted that the new Apple TV will come out in 2021. As for the truth, there is still time to test.
