TCL releases Fold and Roll device concept

On the basis of the previously displayed folding screens and rolling screens, TCL once again released the concept of Fold’n Roll. Specifically, it combines dragonhinge hinges and expandable display panel technology to expand the 6.87-inch mobile phone to 8.85 or even 10-inch tablet mode. Although the company has not disclosed more information about this concept device, we can at least know a little bit from the official renderings shared.

TCL said that the company is still exploring the technical specifications of this device, but we obviously cannot predict when the product will be introduced to the market based on this. In addition to the several shows at CES 2021 at the beginning of the year, TCL also stated that it is expected to launch a folding screen smartphone before the end of 2021.

Many people look forward to TCL being able to bridge the gap in the market for flexible/foldable/rolling screen devices and bring a novel experience with high quality and low price. But as we have seen in many patents/conceptual designs, it often takes a long way to go from product initiation to mass-market launch. Previously Samsung has hinted that the upcoming cost-effective flexible device, but the current Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 2 costs and prices remain high.
