Chief Designer of CDPR: You don’t know how difficult it is to make Cyberpunk 2077

Many people think that the Witcher 3 created by CDPR is very good, but the subsequent Cyberpunk 2077 has taken a big step back. Could it be that CDPR’s skills have degraded? However, the chief developers of CDPR believe that fans did not realize how difficult it is for them to make Cyberpunk 2077. Recently, CDPR chief mission designer Pawel Sasko played Cyberpunk 2077 live on Twitch and answered some questions raised by players, as well as his own views on the game.

Sasko said: “I saw some people asking, ‘Hi, what’s the matter with you?’, it’s actually like this. We want to build a new IP and try to learn as much as possible. Our goal is very ambitious, but I think players and some media may not understand how difficult it is to make the game Cyberpunk 2077”.

Sasko said that he lacked understanding of the challenges facing the development of Cyberpunk 2077. He said: “I am not accusing players, they have the right to demand a fully functional and well-made game. I just want to say that the development team Bopunk 2077 has made great efforts and encountered many difficulties in the production process. This is an ambitious game project and we have done our best in all aspects. But for now, there are still many contents that need to be improved. We are also continuing to work hard for subsequent updates.”

Although Cyberpunk 2077 has not reached the level expected by players, CDPR is still working hard to improve the game, hoping to make the game better through continuous updates. Sasko also hopes that the connection between different elements in CDPR’s future games will be closer, such as missions and open worlds. This requires better and deeper communication and understanding between teams.

The head of CDPR chose to release the game before Cyberpunk 2077 was ready. This is what the studio calls a “great lesson”. I hope players can understand the hardships of the developers and wait patiently for follow-up updates.
